The preservation of Human Dignity has been and will remain a strategic objective of MECC since its founding in 1974, through social, humanitarian and development services programs. The program is supported by several activities aimed at empowering those directly or indirectly affected, facilitating their livelihoods, and adapting to changing living conditions in a flexible and positive way. It also aimed to protect them and defend their rights and issues in all available platforms. Moreover, the program is working with the MECC member churches, to develop their humanitarian and development services through various training programs for their human cadres.

The MECC adoption of the various programs of Diakonia stems from the firm belief that Christ himself founded this service through his healing of physical and psychological diseases. Jesus Called on every believer to serve his fellow with love and humility despite of any religious, social or ethnic background.

كرامة الإنسان وصَونها كانت ولا تزال من الأهداف الاستراتيجيّة لمجلس كنائس الشرق الأوسط منذ تأسيسه في العام 1974، وذلك من خلال برامج الخدمات الإجتماعيّة والإنسانيّة والتنمويّة. يعمل هذا البرامج على تنفيذ أنشطة عدّة تهدف الى تمكين المتضرّرين بصورة مباشرة أو غير مباشرة، وتسهيل سُبل عيشهم، والتكيّف مع ظروف المعيشة المتغيّرة بطريقة مرنة وإيجابيّة، والعمل على حمايتهم والدفاع عن حقوقهم وقضاياهم في المنابر المتاحة كافّة. هذا إلى جانب العمل مع الكنائس الأعضاء في المجلس، لتطوير الخدمات الإنسانيّة وبرامج التنمية لديها من خلال برامج التدريب المتعدّدة للكوادر البشريّة العامِلة لديها.

ينطلق تبنّي المجلس لمختلف برامج الدياكونيّة من الإيمان الراسخ بأن السيّد المسيح هو نفسه من أسسّ هذه الخدمة من خلال شفائه للأمراض الجسديّة والنفسيّة، داعيًا كلّ مؤمن لخدمة أخيه الإنسان بمحبّة وتواضع بعيدًا عن أي خلفية دينيّة أو اجتماعيّة أو عرقيّة.
